Product Description

James Rollins Recommends:
Plain Jane: Brunettes Beware... a bestseller in both the Hard-Boiled Mysteries and Police Procedural genres.

Let's see why...

"Wickedly macabre and blisteringly paced, PLAIN JANE marks the debut of a thriller for the new millennium. Brash, funny, terrifying, and shocking, here is a story best enjoyed with all the lights on. Don't say I didn't warn you!"
James Rollins
NYT Best Seller
Devil Colony

Overview:
Plain Jane: Brunettes Beware
A city is nearly paralyzed as a serial killer stalks the night taking a most gruesome trophy.

And the only thing standing in the murderer's way is an F.B.I. profiler... recently released from a mental institution.

Plain Jane combines the swift pace of Patterson with the macabre of Harris.

A mystery that you truly do need to keep the lights on to read!

More Praise for Plain Jane...
5/5 Stars
What a terrific ride Plain Jane is. I just can't put it down--I am ignoring my kids, my own writing, my emails. Thanks, Ms. West.

I normally stay away from serial killer type books but this one had me hooked from the first page. If you have to get up early in the morning, do not read this book--you will be useless from having stayed up all night reading since it's so engrossing, the characters engaging, the writing so seamless.

There is nothing PLAIN about Plain Jane.

"This book marks a first for me on two levels.
1.) The first a crime novel has kept my attention beyond a few pages.
2.) The first book I read in one day.

A perfect mix of suspense, romance and phenomenally developed characters. I heeded the warning of the reviewers preceding me, and chose a day that I wanted and was able to get lost in a story.

Cristyn West, you have spoiled me for other crime novels that I may read in the future, setting the bar quite high."

Anyone who enjoys mystery/thrillers such as James Patterson, Lee Child, and Patricia Cornwell will definitely love Plain Jane.
**If you were looking for Cristyn's latest book written with the amazing Elena Gray, it is titled WidowMaker: A book to just DIE for!

**If you were looking for the other bestselling Suspense/Mystery by Cristyn West it is titled All Hallow's Eve: The One Night it's BAD to be Good. All the macabre of Plain Jane, but with a religious twist.

**If you were looking for Cristyn's new bestselling Urban Fantasy/Thriller, it is titled Rook, where avoiding the Apocalypse is kind of an "A" list priority. And for Rook's launch week, it is priced at just 99¢
**If you were looking for Cristyn's short story horror anthology, it is titled The Evil Within.

**If you were looking for her "reverse" pen name Carolyn McCray's #1 Historical Thiller (Men's Adventure), simply search under 30 Pieces of Silver, but be forewarned, it is extremely controversial!

5.0 out of 5 stars Set Aside a Chunk of Time..., June 5, 2010
This one had me flipping pages until 2 in the morning. I knew when I saw the quote from James Rollins (one of my favorites) that I would get at least my money's worth out of the book, but I had NO idea what laid in store for me.

I pride myself on being able to figure out books with a twist. I could tell from the beginning that this novel had one. The killer is shrouded in mystery. Aha! A challenge.

Two things happened as I read. First, I was so engaged I forgot to try to figure out who did it. Second, when the reveal came, I was STUNNED! It made so much sense, but I never saw it coming. I tracked it back, (just like right after I watched "The Sixth Sense") and every "t" was crossed, every "i" dotted.

I don't often write reviews, but I felt compelled with this one. I can't recommend it highly enough. Get it now; thank me later! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars There's a Fine Line Between Madness and Genius, June 26, 2010
Right out of the gate this book creeped me out. Being a brunette myself, the title alone was enough to scare me! This was a seriously good book.
Words like unhinged, grotesque, shocking, intriguing, and macabre were spinning through my head as I read the stunning and suspenseful pages. In this book, the lines between profiler and killer severely blur constantly. Cristyn West keeps you guessing, "Just WHO is the killer?" And just when you think you've figured it out, she takes you through to another labyrinthine twist.
I found myself wondering, "Just who is watching you?" This was a creepy, gritty, horrifying and shocking ride. Right until the last page I found myself exclaiming, "No way!" This book will make you jumpy, especially if you're a brunette. You'll find yourself checking your doors and windows, and looking over your shoulder. You'll catch yourself watching everyone around you, wondering......
The suspense is drawn out to the last drop, right up until you... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Blew My Mind, July 18, 2010

    (REAL NAME)
My pal Cristyn West (otherwise known as @craftycmc on the Twitter) asked me if I would review her novel "Plain Jane", a thriller which she accurately calls a James Patterson-ish police procedural. I don't typically read a lot of those sort of books-they are fine, but they have a sameness to them that tends to have them lose their flavor, in my mind. Plus my bedside table has a stack of library books on it, so even though Cristyn gave me the <a href=[...] I warned her it might take a while for me to get to it.

So I decided I'd take a peek last night, see how the story begins. And the next thing I knew, I was gasping to the finish line this afternoon, unable to stop. West cooks up a serial killer story with a unique twist that I will not spoil here. It is a definitely adult story, but well done, with characters that aren't like any others I have encountered. All in all, an extremely well constructed, pulse pounding read that is positively worth your time.
